The Butterfly Pavilion is a 30,000 square foot facility that covers five acres of the City of Westminster. The visitors to the Pavilion are surrounded by more than 1,200 free-flying butterflies while they stroll through the lush tropical conservatory. The Chrysalis Viewing Area allows visitors to witness the process of metamorphosis. Insects on display include rose-haired tarantulas from Chile, a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach, giant meal worm, and hundreds of various butterflies. Also in the Pavilion is an exhibit called Water’s Edge where you may visit sea stars, sea hares, peppermint shrimp, sea cucumbers, hermit crabs, and other marine creatures. Other features in the Butterfly Pavilion include outdoor butterfly gardens, museum store and deli, and nature trail.
Westminster holds an annual Mother and Son Bowl-O-Rama. This event presents an opportunity where Mothers and sons may enjoy an evening just for them. The night includes pizza, prizes, bowling and plenty of fun for both Mothers and Sons. The sons must be 5 years or older to participate.
